Bruce was born and raised in northern B.C. and has lived in the Lower Mainland since 1973. He obtained a B.A. (Geography) degree in 1977 and a L.L.B. (Law) in 1981, both from the University of British Columbia.

In 1983 he joined a Langley firm as an associate, becoming a partner in 1985. He established a successful practice in Langley, a busy and diverse firm, founded on strong relationships with clients, support staff, and other professionals.

Bruce has provided legal services related to business law, commercial and

construction matters, litigation, and estates. He has been general counsel for numerous corporations and businesses in British Columbia and elsewhere and has appeared in all levels of court in British Columbia. ​

Bruce is a devoted family man who enjoys planning and completing projects in his yard, sunny days on the lake, boating with his three boys, and travelling with his wife.
